Course - Digital Video Production for Teachers and Technicians

  • Course description Duration of course:
The course runs for six weeks - 2 hours per week.

    What does it include?
Increasingly tutors have to explore ways to collect assessment evidence from their learners. The use of video is an invaluable tool, both in learning and assessment.
This course is aimed at teachers and technicians. It will enable them to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in video production, including planning, shooting and editing, for assessment purposes and small-scale productions. The course is restricted to a small class size, to ensure that all students
gain the teaching and guidance required.

    The course includes:
    • Planning and pre-production
    • Camera techniques
    • Editing
    • Selection and use of relevant hardware and software.

In addition, the tutors will offer advise on how you can set up a video production facility in your own school, college or department. In order to help, after course support will be available via email.
Students will use both the video studio and editing facilities in the Video Production Suite.

    What skills do I need?
You should have basic IT skills - if you currently use Microsoft Office programmes - such as Word, then you will have the skills required. Additionally you should have the enthusiasm to learn video production. It may be that you already teach in the media field, in which case this course would be ideal too.

    Where does it lead?
You may want to further develop your skills by undertaking a more advanced course in editing and/or broadcast journalism.
