In addition, you will look at how a dancer+s body is trained and study professional dances to understand the ingredients of a successful piece of choreography.

    What will I study?
This is a creative and exciting course which allows you to:

    # increase your technical skills through contemporary dance classes

    # study the craft of choreography and create your own solo and duo/trio pieces

    # develop your skill of performing to an audience

    # understand the dancer+s body in training and what helps its safe development

    # look at professional works and identify the elements a choreographer uses to communicate successfully to an audience.

In the second year the students+ skills and knowledge are extended by focusing on particular dance genres and specific choreographers. Practical work includes group choreography and a solo performance.

We have excellent links with theatres and we regularly attend performances to see a range of dance works. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in workshops run by professional companies and to be a member of Candi Youth Dance, our own in-house company.
