    An introductory course into composing and recording music. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in creating music using technology The course aims to increase your knowledge and understanding of music theory and practice delivered to you by music professionals working in the industry

    What does the course lead to?

    All courses lead to nationally-recognised, industry-relevant qualifications that have been endorsed by players in the industry.

    Courses are at three levels: Level One (equivalent to GCSE Grades D-G); Level Two (equivalent to GCSE Grades A-C) and Level Three (equivalent to A Level).  Students at Level One can progress to Level Two and those completing Two, to Level Three.  Level Three courses span two years and will provide you with a range of skills to either enter straight into the music industry, or to continue your studies in Higher Education (for example popular music, music technology and music business degrees.)

    What does the course involve?

    This is a one year course (15 hours per week spread over 3 days) for musicians, programmers and DJs who want to create music using technology. Skills generated include composing, music programming, recording and production, instrumental skills (keyboards) as well as the business and marketing skills that will give the learner a well rounded knowledge of the music industry.  Delivery is centred around project development (Composition) sessions conducted in fully-equipped technology suites and recording studios.

    How much should I study outside class?

    There are regular homework assignments, so time for private study is essential.

    How is the course assessed?

    Assessment for qualifications is through modular units. There are no exams.
