AS Units
1. The core principles of Chemistry
2. Application of core principles of Chemistry
3. Chemistry laboratory skills I
A2 Units
4. General principles of Chemistry I
5. General principles of Chemistry II
6. Chemistry laboratory skills II
The assessment for both AS and A2 comprises: 2 written papers and chemistry investigations carried out under timed supervision.
What do I need to get onto the course?
This subject would usually be taken as part of a 4 AS or 3 advanced programme of study. You need at least 6 GCSEs at A* - C to include English Language at grade C (minimum); Maths at grade B (minimum); Core with Additional Science at grades BB (minimum) OR Chemistry at grade B (minimum).
Where does it lead?
Successful completion of the A level programme will enable you to progress to university. Chemistry is an essential requirement for degrees in a range of Chemistry courses; Pharmacy; Medicine; Dentistry; and others.
