Clay preparation, creating a body of thrown work to decorate in a number of differing ways.
What topics will we cover?
You can expect to create a series of thrown forms which will come together to from composite pieces (having spouts, lids, handles). You can use a variety of decorative techniques to enhance the forms with a personal response to the different techniques available.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
Throw better forms and have ambitions and be able to carry out ideas relating to various ways of working with clay.
Understand the sequence of using the various decorative techniques
Use surface decoration in a personal and innovative way
What level is the course?
Beginners to intermediate.
How will I be taught?
Demonstrations, both group and individual.
Are there any other costs (e.g. certification, materials, equipment or books I need to buy)?
;1 per 500g of clay before the first firing.
What feedback will I get?
Your tutor will advise. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
