Course descriptionGeneral information
If you have little or no teaching experience, this is the best known and most widely recognised initial qualification for teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) both in the U.K and overseas, or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)in the U.K.
Course content
* Unit 1: Learners and teachers and the teaching and learning context
* Unit 2: Language analysis and awareness
* Unit 3: Language Skills
* Unit 4: Planning and resources
* Unit 5: Developing teaching skills and professionalism.
Teaching and assessment
The course is divided into two parts, training inputs and teaching practice. In the mornings, you will teach real ESOL classes at Bromley College and give and receive feedback on your own and your peers' teaching. In the afternoons, your trainers will deliver practical training sessions on the basic techniques and subject knowledge needed to teach language.
Assessment is based on your teaching practice and four written assignments.
Progression
This initial qualification will enable you to begin practising as an ESOL teacher in both the state and private sectors, or abroad.
