Course descriptionGeneral information
The National Certificate in Sport follows the Performance and Excellence pathway and incorporates a practical football coaching programme. Potential students must demonstrate self motivation, enthusiasm and a geniune commitment to improve their academic and practical skills.
Course content
Students will study 12 Units over a 2-year period - 8 Core Units and 4 specialist units. These include:
* Sports Coaching
* Training and Fitness for Sport
* Practical Sport Fitness
* Testing for Sport and Exercise
* Psychology for Sports Performance
* Technical and Tactical.Skills in Sport
* The Athlete's lifestyle
* Key Skills
Teaching and assessment
Students will be assessed using a variety of assessment methods including completion of assignments, completion of training diaries and observation of practical skills. Students will experience a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
Progression
This course is equivalent to 2 A' levels (2 x A2s) which means you can progress to Higher Education or look to obtain suitable employment.
