Course descriptionThis BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts Level 3 is a one year course that combines and focuses on the development of performing arts skills and combines acting, voice skills and building movement vocabulary. The course is designed to support students to develop a range of skills through practical and theoretical sessions. This includes written assignments, personal portfolios and reflective journals. Students will reflect upon their own practice and that of others in order to understand the process of making productions for theatre. The course aims to expose students to the methods, processes and structures appropriate to contemporary theatre making, to extend and develop movement skills relevant to theatre production. Sessions seek to promote a broad appreciation of the possibilities and pragmatics of performance and to ensure that students develop as creative, confident, reflective and collaborative theatre practitioners. This BTEC course includes 3 core units and 8 specialist units. Students may be required to do one additional evening session towards the end of the year (term 3) The qualification is equivalent to two A levels.
