    What does it include?

    This course offers you an introduction to developing your skills in the areas of Sound Recording & Music Technology. You will learn to widen your understanding of Music Technology related to sound equipment and its uses across a range of audio products and industry. The course will also give you an insight into several music related areas of opportunity and develop your technical understanding and skills in the following areas:
     
    - Sound Recording Techniques      - Introduction to Music Technology        - Music Awareness and Industry
     
    You will be taught by experienced and dedicated lecturers and technicians in our purpose built sound studios at our Paddington Centre that have been awarded the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status by the Learning & Skills Council. Your projects will involve working individually and as part of a team using professional mixing consoles, microphones, and multi-track sound recorders. Apple computer and Akai samplers running software such as Logic are also available for your Music Technology project work.
     
    We believe in supporting you so that you can pursue a future in Music Technology & Sound Engineering. This course will help you to improve and develop your communication skills with additional Key Skills qualification study. You will receive group and individual tutorial support to keep you on track and, if needed, additional learning support is available.
     
    Where does it lead?

    When you successfully complete this course you will have the opportunity to progress onto a level 3 qualification such as the BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology and eventually develop your skills and knowledge in greater depth to pursue University study or possible career opportunities in Music Recording, Live Sound Engineering, Sound Design for Theatre & Film and Broadcast Sound for the Internet, TV & Radio.
     
    How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and through giving presentations. A commitment to high attendance and punctuality is essential to completing the course successfully.
     
    What do I need to get onto it?
    Entry onto the course is by interview. You will need to bring with you some examples of your work that you would like to talk about or a research paper, a reference from school or college and your National Record of Achievement. At interview you will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to this area of work and ideally you will have a minimum 4 GCSEs at grade D or above.
