Course descriptionGeneral information
A BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification.
Course content
The course is made up of six units - 2 core units and 4 specialist units.
First Diploma Software Development Core Units
Unit 1: Using ICT to Present Information Unit 2: Introduction to Computer Systems
First Diploma Software Development Specialist Units Unit 4: Website Development Unit 7: Software Design and Development Unit 11: Numerical Applications Unit 18: ICT Graphics
Teaching and assessment
All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
Progression
Students successfully completing the course with Merits in both Software Development and Visual Programming will be legible for the BTEC National in Software Software Development course.
