Entry requirementsEntry requirements Learners wishing to start a children's care, learning and development apprenticeship must be employed in a childcare environment and be able to attend college one day a week. Applicants must undergo a CRB check and attend an interview.
Course descriptionGeneral information
The Children's Care, Learning and Development apprenticeship is available for learners aged from 16-65 who are employed in a childcare environment for a minimum of 16 hours a week. College attendance is on a day-release basis and assessment will take place in the workplace. Learners are required to build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject. Training is provided through workshop sessions, tutorials and classroom teaching.
Course content
In-house training will take place one day a week and regular assessments and reviews will occur in the workplace. Learners will work towards the childcare framework consisting of an NVQ level 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development, a technical certificate, (underpinning knowledge and theory work), level 1 Keyskills in Application of Number and Communication, 12 hour paedriatric first aid certificate and Employers Rights and Responsibilities.
