Course - Advanced Apprenticeship Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 3
Entry requirementsEntry requirements Learners must be employed for a minimum of 16 hours a week in a supervisory role within a childcare environment; entry will be subject to interview. This is a rolling programme, so you can join this course at designated periods throughout the year; the length of the course will depend on the time taken to complete the units but in general lasts between one or two years. A CRB check is mandatory for all students attending this course.
Course descriptionGeneral information
The children's care, learning and development advanced apprenticeship is available for learners aged from 16-65 who are employed in a childcare environment and who have previously completed the level 2 advanced apprenticeship or who are employed in a supervisory role . College attendance is on a day-release basis and assessment will take place in the workplace. Learners are required to build a portfolio of evidence to prove their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject. Training is provided through workshop sessions, tutorials and classroom teaching.
Course content
In-house training will take place one day a week and regular assessments and reviews will occur in the workplace. Learners will work towards the childcare framework consisting of an NVQ level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development, a technical certificate, (underpinning knowledge and theory work), level 2 Keyskills in Application of Number and Communication, 12 hour paedriatric first aid certificate and Employers Rights and Responsibilities.
Teaching and assessment
You will attend workshops that provide you with the underpinning knowledge that will aid you in the completion of a portfolio by the end of one year. An assessor will be assigned to you and they will come out to your place of work and assess you in practice. Your personal assessor will assess your practice in your work place. You will produce a wide range of evidence to support your practice, which will be presented in a portfolio. Each unit is individually assessed by experienced assessors and internally verified by qualified verifiers.
