Entry requirementsPlease note all students wishing to take this course need to be 19 years or older at the time of enrolment who are aiming to take up teaching as a career. Although no formal qualifications are required, your motivation and suitability, as well as your English and maths abilities will be tested at interview.
Course descriptionCourse content:
You will take education studies plus two further subjects chosen from the following list: psychology, sociology, historical studies, literature and linguistics and original writing. In addition there is a compulsory core of study skills, IT, arithmetic and tutorial. You will be given the opportunity to take a GCSE-equivalent qualification in English, maths and science if you do not already have at least a C-grade in them. A short placement in a school is also an essential part of the course.
Course Structure:
This is a credit based course, and to pass you need to gain a minimum of 54 credits. These are accumulated as the year progresses, mostly through coursework, although examinations are also set in some subjects. Academic and tutorial support is given throughout the course, and you will receive help and advice with your university applications through the UCAS system.

All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centres at 3 College Centres. This includes free Internet access.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment (essays, exams, assignments and presentations).
