Course - Access to HE Diploma Humanities and Social Science
Entry requirementsEntry requirements Access courses are open to adult learners who have sufficient motivation, literacy and numeracy skills. No GCSEs are required but all Access to HE applicants complete an initial diagnostic test to determine if an offer of Access to HE is to be given. On the basis of this diagnostic test we may suggest you undertake a Pre Access course namely the Progression Diploma, if we feel this would be of benefit.

The course tends to appeal to those making a career change or those returning to work after having children.
This course is approved by relevant bodies as a suitable entry qualification for a wide variety of Humanities and Social Science degree programmes.
Course content
The core part of the course includes: English, Maths, IT.
Study skills and personal development units underpin the academic studies.
Also given are option units including History, Sociology and Psychology.
Teaching and assessment
Mostly by assignments and some timed assessments to prepare for examinations in Higher Education.
One should expect a substantial amount of home study.
Progression
Previous students have chosen to follow degree programmes including History, Geography, Psychology and Literary Studies. Some opt to study Social Science from a wide choice of Sociology based courses at University level.
