Course descriptionOver the last decade the multimedia and entertainment sector, including computer games, has grown into a multi-billion dollar global industry employing thousands of computer programmers, designers and multimedia specialists.
Looking at the requirements of the games industry, it becomes clear that although traditional programming expertise is still needed, nevertheless the industry requires a new range of skills, including an understanding of user interfaces, user requirements, graphics, animation and virtual reality, together with a proficiency in audio and video production techniques that traditional computer science graduates lack.
This degree programme helps students to understand the fundamentals of game development and the production of game media elements. Students also also develop skills in related technologies such as animation, virtual reality and audio-visual production techniques.
