Entry requirementsEntry requirements HND/Degree. Appropriate work experience and interview. Students who have successfully completed the Certificate in Personnel Practice to a minimum standard of Merit for all assessed work at that level plus work experience and interview.

Course descriptionGeneral information
The Professional Development Scheme (PDS) is suitable for you if you are:
* A graduate
* Intending to develop a career in people management up to senior manager level
* Responsible for general or specialist management of people - eg. a Personnel Officer or HR Adviser, Training Officer, Compensation Analyst.
Course content
This course has four modules which examine general management and the business context and the role of people management:
* Managing for Results
* Managing in a Strategic Business Context
* Managing and Leading People
* Managing Information for Competitive Advantage
Teaching and assessment
Learning is through a combination of lectures, case studies, group discussions and self directed study. You are expected to investigate and comment upon research into the various areas of HR and to link it to processes in your own organisation.
Assessment: four assignments and four externally assessed examinations.
Progression
On successful completion of this programme students will achieve Licentiate Membership of CIPD and progress onto Stage 2 of the PDS at a centre of their choice.
