Course descriptionChina is one of the world’s fastest growing economies – so much so that, today, it is the manufacturing base for some of the world’s largest consumer goods and electronics companies. It is also a market of massive potential for western technology, goods and services, and as such is playing an increasingly competitive role on the world stage. All of this is having an impact not just on companies doing business with China, but on those that are collaborating or competing with Chinese companies elsewhere in the world. This means that there is a growing need for managers and business specialists who really understand China. This business degree is designed to meet this demand.
In addition to studying China and its business environment, you also need to have a good knowledge of business in general. To enable you to achieve this, the degree also includes the study of business principles, thereby equipping graduates to work effectively not just in China’s challenging and demanding market but elsewhere as well.
The sandwich year is integral to the degree and is compulsory. It is one of the most valuable parts of the degree, as it enables students to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired in their first two years. The degree also includes an introduction to Mandarin Chinese, which must be taken by all students with no prior knowledge of the language.
