ObjectivesThis Professional Doctorate is designed with the experienced professional in mind. Drawing from the full range of health and social care disciplines, participants will join a cohort of practitioners wishing to make a positive difference to practice and service delivery. The Professional Doctorate, equivalent in status and challenge to the PhD, combines modules of directed learning with a supervised research project of professional relevance within the supportive environment of the Faculty's burgeoning research culture.
Entry requirementsApplicants should be engaged in work which has potential for developing areas of health education. This includes a variety of professionals including those working in health, education, local authority and the voluntary sector.

The course materials cover the following study themes: Practising Health Promotion and Health Education, Key Issues in Health Promotion and Health Education, Evidence and Research in Practice.
Teaching and learning
Students receive their own copy of course materials which guide them through the different study themes. Online learning activities form an integral part of the course, and facilitate contact between students and tutors.
Assessment
The course is assessed in a variety of ways, including a project relating to health promotion and education, a portfolio of online learning activities and course assignments.
