Starting with a theoretical and practical introduction to the web and semantic markup with HTML, going through page layout and styling using CSS. The course covers the principles of beautiful web design including designing web graphics, layout, composition, colour, texture, typography, imagery, animation, slideshows, galleries and usability. Students will be taught to upload and download websites using FTP, different file formats on the web, the business of domain registration, web hosting, web server basics, databases, content management systems, e-commerce, social networking and an introduction to the programming languages on the web. Designing to standards with accessibility in mind is the future of website design. By the end of this 20-week course, you will have the necessary skills to split mark-up from presentation, have gained a thorough grasp of W3c standards compliant design and have the knowledge to style web page elements with CSS. The course will also address CSS best practice guidelines and provide you with the platform to become an accomplished CSS user. In addition the course explains how to create mobile web pages and responsive based websites from scratch using different techniques, such as HTML5, CSS3, Phone Gap Build, Javascript and jQuery.
