Course descriptionGeneral information
The BTEC National Diploma in Business provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for students wishing to enter a career in business. It is a vocationally related level 3 qualification suitable for 16 – 19 year olds. The course is designed to offer students a specialised programme of study to advance their career opportunities within a specific occupational area. The course is full-time for 2 years. The course provides students with the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognized qualification that is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
Course content
The course is made up of 18 units as follows - 4 Compulsory Units:
* Exploring Business Activity
* Investigating Business Resources
* Introduction to Marketing
* Effective People Communication and Information
* plus 14 specialist units (to be confirmed)
Students will also study for a Key Skills Award in Communication, Application of Number or Information Technology.
Teaching and assessment
All units will be internally assessed using a variety of methods such as case studies, investigative and project-based assignments. Units will be individually graded as pass, merit or distinction and an overall grade will be awarded on completion of the programme.
Progression
The course provides progression to higher education such as a Higher National Certificate or Diploma or a degree programme. Alternatively students may progress to employment and professional qualifications.
