Entry requirementsEntry requirements * 120 points at A2-level or equivalent with at least one pass in a health or science subject * You must have a professional diploma qualification – eg. occupational therapy, physiotherapy, primary healthcare or sports therapy * Alternatively, we will take into account practical experience within an appropriate healthcare discipline * You can gain exemption from certain stages of the award according to your previous qualifications, eg. if you enter with a state-registered diploma in physiotherapy, you would be exempted from study at Years 1 and 2

Programme
-During your first year, foundation studies in community and personal health will help to underpin exploration of the inter-relationship between human form and function, disease prevention and treatment, human physiology and professional studies in healthcare science.
-In Year 2 you will develop a sound knowledge of biomechanics, and learn how this knowledge can be used in the treatment of trauma. Your studies will enable you to explore the importance of exercise and nutrition in maintaining health and fitness. There will be a chance to investigate the structure and function of the physiological systems of the human body and learn how selected systems are altered by the onset of specific diseases. Physiology practicals will enable you to design scientific experiments to test your hypotheses.
-Third year studies will help develop your philosophy and ethical thinking on issues such as the use of human subjects in biomedical and related research.
Study of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology, human sensory and motor mechanisms and musculoskeletal physiology will also form a large proportion of the third year programme. In addition, you will have the chance to complete an Honours project.
