  • Objectives * The Psychology programme for Joint Honours students will suit those interested in aspects of human mind and behaviour * The programme includes a range of psychological perspectives such as developmental, social and cultural psychology * The programme also offers the opportunity to develop an extensive range of transferable and analytical skills as well as an appreciation of empirical research.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Five GCSE's grades A-C. Candidates should be competent in Maths and English Health , Forensics & Psychology * A minimum of 220 UCAS points including at least two GCE A Levels. Equivalent qualifications are accepted. Law, Marketing , Human Resource Management and Psychology * A minimum of 220 UCAS points including at least two GCE A Levels. Equivalent qualifications are accepted. English, Media , Education Studies and Psychology * A minimum of 220-240 UCAS points including at least two GCE A Levels. For English & Psychology one of which must be English at Grade C Applications from mature students and international students are welcome.

    Programme

    This is a joint honours programme, so in each year, half the time will be spent studying psychology and half studying the other chosen subject. A broad introduction to psychology will be provided in year one concentrating upon key areas such as developmental and social psychology, personality and individual differences. Year two will cover similar topics in much more depth. Year three involves an independent project in either psychology or your other chosen subject. These combined subjects are: Health Studies, Forensic Science, Education Studies, English, Human Resources, Law, Media and Marketing.

    In addition you will be able to select from a range of optional modules to suit your interests and aspirations. At present options are:

        * Counselling Psychology
        * Criminological & Forensic Psychology
        * Cultural Psychology and the Media
        * Health Psychology
        * Mental Health and Society
        * Psycholinguistics
        * Psychology & Education
        * Transitions in Adulthood

    The programme focuses upon human rather than animal behaviour with a particular interest in cultural and linguistic aspects of psychology

    Part time students will normally participate in half the programme in any one year.
