Objectives
Biochemistry has made major contributions to medicine as the development of new drugs and the treatment of disease have become more systematic and scientific. Our knowledge of the structure and function of DNA, RNA and proteins has led to an understanding of the mechanisms that cause degenerative disease and cancer, and holds out the promise of novel and improved methods of treatment. This course develops the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in medical research, work in the pharmaceutical industry and other aspects of healthcare.
