Entry requirementsSelected entry requirements English language: IELTS 6.5. Minimum 6 in any component. 577 in the TOEFL written test, 233 in the computerised TOEFL (including 5 in TWE), or 90 in the internet TOEFL with a minimum of 20 in each component. A level: Grades AAB. General Studies is accepted if one of four A Levels passed in the same sitting. AS level: Two AS-levels accepted in place of one A-level providing at least one AS-level is studied at Year 13. Unit grade information: The University of Manchester welcomes the provision of unit grade information which, like all other available information, will inform the consideration of applications. Unit grades will not normally form part of offer conditions, except for Mathematics programmes. GCSE: Grade B in English language and Mathematics. Key Skills qualification: The University warmly welcomes applications from students studying the Key Skills qualification. However, as the opportunities to take these modules are not open to all applicants, currently this is not an essential requirement of the University. International baccalaureate: 35 points with 6, 6, 7 in the Higher Level subjects. The Management/Managment (Specialism) degree programmes have a common first year, which provides a grounding in the disciplines underlying management. There are courses (compulsory) in accounting and finance, economics, psychology, sociology, quantitative methods, business law and an introduction to the study of management. Since the Management and Management (Specialism) degrees are identical in the first year, transfer between them is straightforward, so you should apply for only one of them.
This programme concentrates on the broad area of human resource management, plus employment policy and practice, industrial relations, organisational psychology and organisational analysis, with choices to focus on both the UK and international level. It is designed to encourage you to gain a critical awareness of how people are managed in organisations. You choose 40% of your second-year courses and at least 60% of your final-year courses from human resources core courses.

Module details
You take courses totalling 360 credits over the duration of your studies in order to graduate with Honours; 120 credits in each year of study. Generally, one semester courses are worth 10 credits and full year courses are worth 20 credits. As your studies progress you have increasing flexibility in choosing courses which suit your personal interests and career aspirations.
Course content for year 1
As potential future leaders of industry it is important that you have an understanding of the disciplines underlying management. For this reason both BSc Management and Management (Specialism) students take compulsory courses in accounting and finance, economics, psychology, sociology, quantitative methods (mathematics), law and a foundation course in the study of management in the first year. You also choose an optional course in economics or finance. Since the Managment and Management (Specialism) degrees are identical in the first year, transfer between them is straightforward so you should apply for only one of them.

In addition to building on the subjects studied in the first year, you can also take courses in employment studies, marketing and operations/technology management. BSc Management (Human Resources) specialists currently need to take courses amounting to a minimum of 40 credits from the core courses for human resources.
Course content for year 3
In the final year you choose at least 60 credits of core human resources courses. The final year gives you a real opportunity to study key human resources topics in depth. The remainder of your courses are selected from the wide range of management disciplines.
