  • Objectives The International Management programmes aim to:- -enable students to acquire state of the art knowledge and understanding of the field of management. -provide an educational experience which will facilitate and promote students' intellectual development and life-long learning skills, -promote critical awareness of the merits and complexities of management, and to inculcate an appreciation of the association between theory and practice. -appraise students of important new developments in the field of management. -enable students to develop appropriate practical and transferable skills. -provide a high quality management programme.
  • Entry requirements Selected entry requirements English language: IELTS 6.5. Minimum 6 in any component. 577 in the TOEFL written test, 233 in the computerised TOEFL (including 5 in TWE), or 90 in the internet TOEFL with a minimum of 20 in each component. A level: Grades AAB. General Studies is accepted if one of four A Levels passed in the same sitting. AS level: Two AS-levels accepted in place of one A-level providing at least one AS-level is studied at Year 13. Unit grade information: The University of Manchester welcomes the provision of unit grade information which, like all other available information, will inform the consideration of applications. Unit grades will not normally form part of offer conditions, except for Mathematics programmes. GCSE: Grade B in English language and Mathematics. Key Skills qualification: The University warmly welcomes applications from students studying the Key Skills qualification. However, as the opportunities to take these modules are not open to all applicants, currently this is not an essential requirement of the University. International baccalaureate: 35 points with 6, 6, 7 in the Higher Level subjects.     This is a four year BSc degree programme in which you spend a full academic year studying management (in English) in a Management or Business school in Europe, the Far East or Australia.

    In your first year, you are given a general grounding in the key disciplines underpinning management (including accounting and finance, economics, law, mathematics. psychology and sociology). In the subsequent years, employment studies, marketing and operations or technology management can also be studied. You are given the opportunity to specialise in international issues through courses designed to develop an appreciation of differences between institutions and cultures across nations.

    In your year abroad, you take a full programme of courses taught in English in your host institution alongside home students. You then return to Manchester for your final year, in which a range of specialised international options across all of the key disciplines is available.

    In your second year, you are informed of your exchange destination for your third year, chosen from leading management schools with excellent reputations
     
    Special features
    Full academic year spent studying Management (in English) in a Management/Business School in Europe, South East Asia or Australia.

    Specialist international options from all the key Management disciplines.
    Provides transferable analytical, technical and IT skills relevant to work in business related occupations.

    Module details
    You take courses totalling 360 credits over the duration of your studies in order to graduate with Honours; 120 credits in each year of study.

    Generally, one semester courses are worth 10 credits and full year courses are worth 20 credits. As your studies progress you have increasing flexibility in choosing courses which suit your personal interests and career aspirations. The year abroad MUST be passed in order to progress to the final year.

    Course content for year 1
    As potential future leaders of industry it is important that you have an understanding of the disciplines underlying management. BSc (Hons) International Management students take compulsory courses in accounting and finance, economics, psychology, sociology, quantitative methods (mathematics), law and a foundation course in the study of management in the first year. You also choose an optional course in economics or finance.

    Course content for year 2
    You take a compulsory course in International Business Environment and are encouraged to specialise in international issues through courses designed to develop an appreciation of differences between institutions and cultures across nations.

    Course content for year 3
    In your year abroad, you take a full programme of courses taught in English in your host institution alongside home students. Your course choices are agreed by your host institution and MBS Programme Director via a Learning Agreement.

    Course content for year 4
    After your year abroad you return to Manchester for your final year, in which a range of specialised international options across all of the key disciplines is available. You also have the option of undertaking a dissertation.
