    Programme

Course content is specifically oriented towards the needs of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) so that graduates are immediately employable.

Health Informatics has been defined as "the knowledge, skills, and tools which enable information to be collected, managed, used and shared to support the delivery of healthcare and promote health" (informatics.nhs.uk).

The Department of Health's National Programme for IT is intended to deliver 21st century IT support for the National Health Service. This multi-billion pound project aims to integrate IT infrastructure and systems for all NHS organisations in England by 2010 (connectingforhealth.nhs.uk).

Health Informatics is intended to prepare graduates to work within this rapidly evolving environment. The NPfIT will be used as an ongoing case study, allowing students to consider technical, managerial and cultural issues and challenges in relation to the integration of complex information systems.

As a student on one of our specialist programmes, you will have access to an enthusiastic team which is continually working to ensure that you are offered every opportunity to reach your full potential, academically, professionally and personally.
