Programme
Information is one of the most important assets of a modern business. The amount of data being collected around the world is doubling roughly every eighteen months. The extraction of information from large and complex databases is at the very core of many businesses to enable them to remain competitive. Commerce, government, education and other organisations all require information to plan and develop strategies and policies.
Students will develop skills that will enable them to analyse, design and develop information systems to meet organisational needs. We know that employers put a high value on quantitative modelling techniques that form the basis of business analysis and modelling. Upon graduating students will be able to apply these business tools.
As part of this programme individuals will undertake modules in the following areas:
* Database design and implementation
* Information systems design and implementation
* Quantitative modelling for business decision-making.
In the final year a wide range of specialist areas can be studied and these include:
* Data mining
* Systems and simulation
* Management support systems
* Information services management.
The modules offered are informed by cutting-edge research in the Faculty.
