BSc Biology with a Modern Language

  • Objectives Biology is the science of life: how living organisms function, develop, reproduce and evolve, from the scale of genes up to that of ecosystems. It is also a global science, and it addresses many questions that have an explicitly international dimension: - Where are the centres of global biodiversity and how can these be protected? - How will we provide enough food to feed the world's population? - Can benefits of genomics and biotechnology be made available where they are most needed? - How can biological science be best communicated between nations and cultures?
  • Practical experience The third year is spent following a specified biology programme at a university in France, Spain, Italy or Germany. You will return to Sheffield for the fourth year, where you follow the level three programme.
  • Entry requirements -GCE/VCE A Levels - ABB -Two GCE A Levels plus two GCE AS Levels - AA+BB or AB+AA -BTEC National Diploma: 3 Distinctions + interview -Scottish Highers - AAAAB -Irish Leaving Cert. - AAABB -International Baccalaureate - 33 points -Core Requirements - Grade B in GCE A Level Biology plus another A Level science subject (including Psychology and Geography). Grade B is also required in a modern language (French, German, Italian, Spanish).
