    Approach

    Communicaid’s Bengali language courses are available seven days a week, 365 days a year. Training takes place between 08:00 and 20:00 although courses are also available outside of these hours upon request.

    Suitable tailored and published Bengali course materials will be used throughout, with recommendations on self-study material and extra reading made at the beginning and during your Bengali course.

    Bengali course trainer

    All Communicaid Bengali trainers are native speakers with at least 3 years’ professional Bengali training experience.  In addition to relevant academic and linguistic qualifications and experience, many of our Bengali trainers also possess considerable exposure and expertise in the professional world.

    BC is a qualified trainer with over 10 years’ adult training experience. She has developed and taught tailor-made Bengali and English courses at all levels for both public and corporate organisations in the UK.  BC is also a qualified school teacher, specialising in GCSE science.

     
        – Facts about the Bengali language

     

    Bengali, or Bangla as it is known to Bengali speakers, is the official language of Bangladesh. It also shares official language status in India. It is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with over 200 million native speakers estimated worldwide.

    Bengali is classed as an Eastern Indo-Ayran language of the Indo-European family of languages.  Assamese, Oriya, and Maithili are its closest relations and in some cases are considered to be mutually intelligible.  Bengali dialects are commonly categorised into eight groups, which are generally considered as: Western, Southwestern, Central (or West-Central), Northern, Bahe, Eastern, Ganda, and Vanga.  Standard Bengali is derived from the variation used by the elite classes from Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta).   Many speakers are familiar with or fluent in both the standardised form used in the media as well as localised variants.

    Written Bengali uses a type of script called alphasyllabary or an abugida that uses signs to denote consonants.  The Bengali script possesses It has 12 vowels and 52 consonant characters.
