ObjectivesManufacturing is about producing high quality products, with parts supplied, in a competitive global market, at the lowest cost and in the shortest time. Manufacturing engineers are in great demand in the UK and abroad, in high-value sectors such as the aerospace, automotive, and pharmaceutical industries. Students taking the MEng may opt to take a specialist stream in aerospace manufacture in years three and four.

Programme
Year one
You will get a good grounding in the broad fundamentals of engineering science, engineering design, materials, mathematics, electro-mechanical systems and manufacturing processes. This is combined with an introduction to business operations such as marketing, quality and inventory management.
Year two
Modules in manufacturing processes, design for manufacture and automated manufacture are taught alongside inventory management, business accounting and ergonomics and human factors in design. An industrially focused, year-long, group project enables you to apply your knowledge and understanding.
Year three
Year Three features a major individual project studied over the full year, along with a wide range of optional modules to choose from allowing you to tailor the course to your interests.
