BEng Engineering with a Foundation Year (4 or 5 Years)

  • Entry requirements Selected entry requirements A level: Students will be accepted from a range of educational backgrounds and all applications will be considered individually. It is therefore not easy to specify the entry standard that will gain you a place on the programme. If you have already studied A levels but in inappropriate subjects for direct admission to an engineering or science degree programme, then we shall be looking for a high achievement at A-level plus a good standard of mathematics and science at GCSE or equivalent. If you are returning to study after a period away from it, we shall take into account relevant experience in employment together with any previous qualifications. In all cases we will be looking for a performance that indicates that, within one year of further study, you can attain the necessary standards for entry onto one of our degree programmes. Offers will be tailored individually. Unit grade information: The University of Manchester welcomes the provision of unit grade information which, like all other available information, will inform the consideration of applications. Unit grades will not normally form part of offer conditions, except for Mathematics programmes. GCSE: If no sciences or maths are offered at A-level or equivalent, then we shall be looking for a minimum of B grades in Mathematics and science at GCSE or equivalent. Key Skills qualification: The University warmly welcomes applications from students studying the Key Skills qualification. However, as the opportunities to take these modules are not open to all applicants, currently this is not an essential requirement of the University. International baccalaureate: Considered on an individual basis. Additional entry requirements Additional entry requirements exist for this course. You may view these by selecting from the list below.
