Objectives
The needs of many engineering enterprises extend beyond the conventional divisions of civil, mechanical, electronic or manufacturing engineering. They require engineering, which is a blend of science, invention, economics and organisation. Warwick’s unified School of Engineering provides an ideal environment for delivering this blend. The Engineering degrees also offer an ideal entry route if you wish to design your own degree course in your final year. It is the only discipline to which any of our nine MEng elective options can be added – for example you can choose Engineering with Sustainability or Engineering with Robotics. Alternatively you may simply wish to enter this degree and delay your decision as to which specialism you wish to follow until later in your studies.

Entry requirements
General university admissions requirements
All applicants must possess a minimum level of competence in English Language and in Mathematics or a Science. A pass at Grade C or above in GCSE English Language and in Mathematics or a Science, or an equivalent qualification, fulfils this requirement.
For some courses, requirements are above this University minimum, so you should check the relevant course-specific entry requirements in our hard copy prospectus which you can order online or browse on our online directory. We usually ask for candidates to show a broad base of study at GCSE level (or equivalent) with passes in at least five subjects from a range of disciplines.

Course description
BEng Engineering
Accrediting institutions: Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC)
Our accredited Engineering degrees develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of engineering, with teaching from a wide range of automotive, civil, electronic and mechanical engineering experts, and options to specialise in areas that interest you.
These courses are led, jointly, by experts in the School of Engineering and WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group). Interdisciplinary projects enable you to tackle challenges that could range from engineering a robot to rescue victims in a collapsed building to designing and building a nano-satellite. You will develop sought-after skills including a multidisciplinary approach to problemsolving, the ability to manage projects and communicate ideas, and the capacity to lead, research, design, innovate and develop products and systems.
In your first two years you will focus on core areas of engineering, with opportunities to experience laboratory and design work in all disciplines. You can also choose options from within or outside Engineering, such as aesthetics of design, vehicle technology, biomedical engineering and foreign languages. In your third year you will study core general and systems engineering modules, and undertake individual and group project work. Projects may include producing a design and prototype of a surgical tool for middle-ear surgery or creating a knowledge capture system for the IMechE Formula racing car project. You can also choose from a variety of optional modules.
