ObjectivesThis course is ideal for candidates who wish to pursue a career as an electronic systems designer. The first year of all the degrees covers the basics of electrical engineering science, mathematics and computer programming. Year 2 deepens your knowledge in specific areas of electronic design, including embedded systems. The final year allows you to broaden out into areas such as image processing or robotics or power electronics for alternative energy resources. There is an extensive use of design-based laboratory and project work to support the lectures. Management and business studies are taught and an option exists to take a modern foreign language in the final year.
Entry requirementsThere are different entry qualifications for each programme. Some programmes require you to have a certain amount of knowledge in a subject before you begin the degree programme – this is called a ‘subject requirement’. Other programmes do not have any specific subject requirements. All programmes will, however, expect you to have reached a certain standard in your education and will ask you to achieve certain grades in your examinations. Most programmes have a standard offer so that you know in advance what you are likely to need. Please note that even if you have the minimum entry qualifications, you are not necessarily guaranteed a place on the degree programme.
