Objectives
Our flagship course provides a solid grounding in core subjects, including structures, geotechnics, materials, fluids, surveying and construction management, with opportunities for MEng students to specialise in key areas such as transportation in later years. BEng students undertake an individual investigative project in the third year while MEng students undertake an engineering project in context with an industrial link or theme.

Entry requirements
Required subjects: maths and science, preferably physics IB score: 32 (5 Mathematics at higher level or 6 in Math Methods at Standard Level)

Course description
BEng Civil Engineering
Programme
Year one
You are introduced to the main areas and principles of civil engineering, including a compulsory residential surveying field course in the spring semester. Other skills developed include computing and Computer Aided Drawing (C.A.D). You can also study a module in any subject in the University.
Year two
You build on the core modules studied in year one. A key element includes a 20-credit dissertation taken over the whole year. You can also study a module in any subject in the University.
Year three
You build on the core modules studied in year one. A key element includes a 20-credit dissertation taken over the whole year. You can also study a module in any subject in the University.
