Programme
Year one
You are introduced to the main areas and principles of civil engineering, including a compulsory residential surveying field course in the spring semester. In addition to the development of your computing and CAD skills, you will be given a broad introduction to current global, societal and environmental issues.
Year two
This deals with the issues of air and water quality in some considerable depth. A key element includes a 20-credit dissertation with an environmental theme.
Year three
A topical module on Sustainable Construction a module on Environmental Geotechnology are compulsory for Civil and Environmental Engineering students, but there is a free choice from some other School modules and one from around the University - a number of environmental modules from other Schools can be considered to broaden the environmental aspect. A Group Project will highlight the role of environmental considerations at the design stage.
