Academic titleBEng Chemical Engineering
Course descriptionBEng Chemical Engineering
Programme
Year one
You study mechanisms and principles of operations involving flow of fluids, heating and cooling, chemical composition change and the inter-relationship between heat and power. Material and energy balances are also covered along with the development of professional skills in communication and computer graphics. There is small scale laboratory work.
Year two
You focus on more common process operations and equipment, including design methods. There is a wider look at materials, biotechnology, environmental protection, chemical thermodynamics and engineering management. There is intermediate scale laboratory work.
Year three
You study safety and project management and have a more in depth look at separations, study of reactors, control and high-added value product design. There will be a large group project (a final year design project) and you can choose specialised topics of interest. There is laboratory pilot plant scale work.
