Course description
BA Politics
Programme
Studying Politics as a joint honours subject allows you to combine an understanding of the political choices, processes and ideas that shape our daily lives with another relevant discipline like International Relations, Journalism, History or Media Studies.
Year One introduces students to current debates and key concepts in Politics like democracy, liberty and multiculturalism. They also study political developments in the United States, Russia, China and Europe.
In Year Two students take a core module in Political Thought. This allows them to engage with the big ideas that have shaped politics over the ages. In addition, they can also examine European, American or British politics. There are also opportunities to study for a semester abroad.
Year Three offers students the chance to undertake a supervised research project on a topic of their choice. They can also take specialised modules on Britain and the EU, globalisation, nationalism, Latin America or feminism. They can also carry out a work placement.
