* This is the programme for students who are interested in combining practical and theoretical aspects of journalism and who are passionate about writing * Journalism can be combined with a wide variety of other complementary subjects to suit specific interests * Staff include qualified and award winning Journalists with many years of professional experience * It provides an ideal foundation for progression onto our NCTJ accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism (subject to application).

Entry requirements * A Levels/ASs/AVCEs/Key Skills (Level Three) usually 220-240 points (applicants must have at least two full A Levels) * AGNVQ/BTEC Merit/Distinction * Access Pass.

Course description
BA Journalism
Programme
Students follow a programme which is firmly grounded in a wide range of journalism practice as well as engaging with contemporary theoretical issues. Throughout the programme there is an emphasis on practical work, which, in the later stages, includes placements and group projects.
Topics covered include: understanding what news is, where it comes from and how to find it, building contacts, writing for various and differentiated markets, writing for newspapers and magazines, sub-editing and design, on-line journalism, media law and public affairs and ethics of journalism.
Journalism can be studied with Arts Management, Creative Writing, English, Film, History, International Relations, Media and Politics.
