BA International Travel and Tourism Communication

  • Objectives This exciting course prepares students from all over the world for a career in a global industry. You will gain a thorough understanding of the workings of the tourism and travel industries. In the second year the vocational skills and knowledge developed at college are applied and practiced during a period of work based learning in a related organisation.
  • Entry requirements Applicants with some, or all of the following achievements will be considered for admission to the programme: * two or more 'A' Level passes with at least 3 GCSE passes at grade C or above * an Edexcel GNVQ at Advanced Level (or equivalent) at Merit Level * Access Certificate recognised by the National Open College Network with at least 16 (48) credits at level 3 * have developed a successful career in a relevant area to a level that the team, through a process of accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning that AP(E)L considers being the equivalent of academic development

    Programme

    Year 1 introduces the theoretical and intellectual framework and skills to support you in developing your understanding of international tourism, tourism planning and tourism communications.

    Year 2 is concerned with the theoretical underpinning required to evaluate the provisions of tourism and travel that characterise your next level of learning. Subjects studied include Travel and Tourism Communication and Resource Management for Travel and Tourism. In addition students are offered a choice of electives that will broaden and deepen understanding in areas of specific interest.

    Year 3 undertakes the analysis and evaluation of strategic planning and management of change in international travel and tourism. The final project provides an opportunity for major research in the specialist area of your choice.
