Programme
Specific pathway projects are designed to give students a comprehensive foundation of creative and professional skills and develop students technical, visual and academic skills. Students are encouraged to develop skills in visual problem-solving through research and experimentation.
In year one the course allows students to learn the basic skills needed to begin to think, visualise and communicate ideas creatively. Modules include Digital and Traditional Photography, Concepts of Visual Language, Typography, Image Concepts and Contextual Studies.
In year two students undertake more advanced photographic studies and begin to specialise in a design area that develops individual strengths. Negotiated projects give students responsibility for their own creative direction and prepare them for final year study.
Year three students have the opportunity to produce work for a commercial client and enter national design awards including D&AD, ISD and the RSA Student Design Award. Again students are expected to take responsibility for realising personal design projects, to build a unique portfolio in preparation for the launch of their career.
