ObjectivesYou will study feature film and short film production and use the skills you acquire to develop your own short films. This occurs in the writing of treatments, scripts and the development of storyboards for your own productions. To assist with this creative development you will undertake complementary studies in pre-production, including areas such as budgeting, amongst the other creative aspects essential to professional work. You will also acquire post-production skills and knowledge. You will be engaged in theoretical film analysis and you will also have the opportunity to study theories of film, including notions of ideology, psychoanalytic theory, theories of gender and postmodern cinema.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements You will need three GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English Language, plus one of the following: * 240 points (including a minimum of two A2 Levels or a 12 unit AVCE or a combination) or * 240 points from BTEC National Diploma / Certificate or * Equivalent Scottish, Irish,Welsh or overseas qualifications or * An equivalent qualification to those listed above (eg Access to Higher Education certificate, International Baccalaureate)

* Practice: Short Film Production, Television Drama, Factual Broadcasting, Documentary, in addition
to developing the skills and knowledge built in Level 1.
* Theory: Film Theory, Working in the Film & Television Industries (including a three-week work placement).
* Opportunity to study abroad.
Level 3
* Practice: Documentary Making, Working with New Media, Short Film Production, Television Drama, Factual Television, using the skills and knowledge developed in Levels 1 and 2.
* Theory: Postmodern Theory, Film Theory, Theories of Television, Theories of New Media and a Dissertation.
* Opportunity to take a 10-week internship in the film and television industries.
