Objectives
Film Studies at Bristol UWE enables you to understand cinema as an extraordinarily diverse set of practices. You will be introduced to a wide range of cinematic traditions, including documentary, British and world cinema, as well as Hollywood films and genres. Our programmes locate films within a broad cultural context so that you can explore the ways in which textual meanings and cultural identities are produced through the institutions of cinema. You will also study the political, economic, and technological changes that have helped to shape cinema history, from the beginnings of cinema in the 19th century to the digital innovations transforming it in the 21st.
