ObjectivesThe BA Honours Creative Advertising Strategy course not only prepares you for a career in creative advertising but also encourages innovative thinking. Some learning units contribute towards the development of your own enterprise skills and creative ideas while others are more specific to the knowledge, and understanding demanded by the marketing sector. Emphasis is placed upon the visual aspects of communicating ideas, products and services to customers and clients.
Entry requirementsYou will need one of the following: 2 A level/AVCE plus 3 GCSE passes grades (A-C); an approved Access course (48 credits) or an equivalent career experience recognized through the A(P)EL system.
Year 1 concentrates on 'Foundations of Advertising and Marketing Communications’, to provide you with the necessary knowledge of the subject and its industry context. Your study allows you to place this understanding in the context of the contemporary enterprise economy and culture. Essential marketing and communication concepts are introduced and you will be able to recognise how these are employed in the business environment.
Year 2 has the theme of 'Management of Marketing’ and 'Advertising Communications’. The focus is on the application of knowledge to marketing communications problems and issues. A feature of study this year is simulated work-related study, through which you will employ your understanding of advertising communications in practical scenarios.
Year 3 Units emphasise contemporary issues of advertising practice and include a major project of your own choice to encourage independence of thinking and creativity. Issues of communications strategy and preparation for employment are particular features of this final year of study.
