Objectives
Classics embraces the study of all aspects of the cultures of Greece and Rome (their languages, literature, thought, religion, art, archaeology and history) and their influence on later ages. King's Department of Classics is acknowledged as one of the very best in the country, having received both the top rating of 5* in the national Research Assessment Exercise, and the top rating of 24 in the Teaching Quality Assessment Exercise, and the variety and flexibility of our teaching reflects the richness of the subject.

BA Classical Studies
The Classical Studies BA is designed for those who wish to study the classical world as a whole, with an emphasis on Greek and Roman culture and thought, and who have not studied much or any Greek or Latin before coming to university. However, we encourage the learning of Greek and Latin as fundamental to the study of the ancient world: we teach both from beginners' level up and require all our students to pass at least one language module.
