  • Objectives # This topical and relevant economics award provides a range of contemporary skills and analytical tools that allow you to progress successfully into a management career # It teaches you to critically apply economics in a globalised context, as well as within the processes of organisational decision making # You will develop the building blocks of economics, and examine how these can be applied to other areas of society such as housing, health and sport # You look at business economics, and its application to the areas of sport and the environment # You can also choose from a range of modules to suit your own interest # Extensive use is made of the Business School’s online learning support materials
  • Entry requirements Course details * Year 1 explores economics from a business and societal perspective. It examines the international business environment, taking in organisations, competition and the environment of crime. * Your second year investigates government policy and business, environmental management, and the business of sport. It also explores the organisational analysis of firms, as well as banking and financial institutions. * If you do not choose to undertake a work placement in Year 3, you move directly to your final year, which will cover global business, corporate social responsibility, the economics of strategy, and contemporary issues in the business environment. You also get the opportunity to prepare a research dissertation of your choice.

    -You could find employment directly related to economics such as in business and investment analysis, and in economics within both the public and private sector

    -The greatest proportion of economics graduates, however, seek employment in professional business and financial roles including chartered and management accountancy

    -Increasingly economists are in demand by the Civil Service, local government (within investment strategy and planning departments) and non-governmental organisations
