Objectives
This course aims to develop skills relevant to professional translation between English and another language. It is open to native and non-native speakers of French and Spanish and native speakers of Arabic, Italian and Polish. The course offers direct entry only from Level 2 for native speakers of German, Greek and Russian (subject to interview). All applicants will need to have very good command of their native and foreign languages and may need to sit an entrance test. Please indicate your native and foreign languages upon application.

Entry requirements
You should have 200 points from two A-levels, one of which must be in a foreign language. If you wish to study this as a Joint Honours degree, your foreign language needs to be at a very advanced level and you will need to take a language test. Alternative qualifications will be considered, such as residence abroad or a bilingual background. A good command of English is required, as evidenced by interview, test or by appropriate certification

Course description
Course structure
The focus is on the practice of translation and the development of professional skills. You are allocated to appropriate language classes. You can specialise in a translation-related area or learn another language. For Single Honours you take eight modules per level. Joint Honours involves four modules from each level in Applied Translation, plus four from your other subject. After level 1 you can continue on Joint Honours or take a Major.
