BA Accountancy and Finance

  • Objectives This degree provides a basis for a wide choice of careers in the fields of professional accountancy, finance, banking, insurance, public sector, personnel and general management. It enables graduates to enter for the examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with maximum possible exemptions, and attracts exemptions from CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, ICAS and ICSA. A number of graduates have chosen to pursue further study through the Department's MA in Accounting and Finance.
  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements Normally 240 points which must include one 12 unit award or two six unit awards plus GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C or above.

    Business Placement Year (optional)

    You can choose to take a paid business placement at the end of two years of study. You can apply to a wide range of sizes and types of business organisations through our Business Placement Unit. These placements provide an opportunity to see accountancy and finance in action. They help you develop the knowledge and skills obtained on the course and see the pervasive influence of accountants in organisations. This is also an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and find out what employers are looking for.
