Entry Requirements Entrants should have obtained a good first degree in architecture, preferably with RIBA Part 1 exemption, and should have completed a satisfactory period of professional training. Direct entry to the second year of the course will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Course description
Introduction
This degree programme is specifically for graduates who require a Master's degree to enable them to advance their professional or academic careers but who do not require the ARB/RIBA Part 3 exemption conferred by the alternative award of Master of Architecture.
The first two years of the degree programme follow the same structure as that of the associated Master of Architecture programme and lead to the award of Diploma in Architecture (or Diploma in Architecture (International)) which provides exemption from the ARB/RIBA Part 2 examination in Architecture. Graduates of the Diploma in Architecture subsequently undertake an additional Research Study either full-time or part-time. Successful completion confers the award of Master of Arts (MA) in Architecture.
Structure
The first two years of the course are undertaken full-time and follow the syllabus of the Diploma in Architecture.
Following successful completion of the Diploma in Architecture, candidates for the award of Master of Arts in Architecture undertake a Research Study (a body of work equivalent in scope to a dissertation of 15,000 words) that can be undertaken full-time mode over a period of three months, or over 12 months part-time mode.
Special Features
This course is particularly appropriate for graduates who intend to practice architecture outside the UK and for those who wish to pursue an academic career in architecture.
