Developed in consultation with major industrial and public concerns, it provides both practical laboratory skills and essential professional training, as well as a number of specialisms. This modular MSc Analytical Chemistry programme leads to degrees in: -Analysis for Cultural Heritage -Analytical Chemistry -Chemometrics and Chemical Metrology -Clinical and Biopharmaceutical Analysis -Environmental Analysis.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements Good honours degree in a scientific subject. Less qualified students may be accepted after following a one-year qualifying course, or if they have appropriate work experience, or through registration on the Diploma course.
Course descriptionThe MSc is structured around 10 modules and a laboratory-based research project. You can specialise through option modules, elective modules and by your choice of project topic.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Analytical Chemistry consists of either 10 modules, or five modules and a project or dissertation. Most of the modules can also be taken as short courses.

Assessment
Taught modules are assessed by unseen written papers of one-and-a-half hours’ duration, combined – where appropriate – with coursework marks. Examinations are held at the beginning of the term following completion of the teaching of the module. Written papers usually combine two modules and last for three hours.
