Action research course for teachers and teaching assistants

  • Academic title Diploma of Educational Studies
  • Course description

Our Action Research course is designed for teachers and teaching assistants who want to develop their expertise or bring about change through a research approach.

Action research is both a way of solving a problem with what you do and the process by which you find the solution. An action researcher wants a solution. The process is an attempt to gain a better understanding of what you do.

Action research did not start in education. Once its possibilities became clear, it was applied to education some thirty years later, largely as a result of a work by Lawrence Stenhouse in 1975.

Today, individuals still undertake action research as a means of developing their action and their research. By researching their action, they can action their research.

The course has been developed in collaboration with National Inspections as an online course and is open to UK and International candidates.

The course leads to The College of Teachers’ Diploma of Educational Studies qualification (level 2 equivalent) and is issued under our Royal Charter.
